DELFIN & BELUGA-IMPORTVERBOT

In Süd Korea existieren mehrere Delfinarien, welche allesamt in der Vergangenheit wildgefangene Delfine aus Taiji/Japan gekauft haben.

In Ulsan sind die Delfine in winzigen Pools eingesperrt. Wir kennen kein Delfinarium weltweit, welches kleiner ist als dieses! Öffentlich wurde ein Fall, dass ein Delfin, der aus Japan importiert wurde, nur fünf Tage in dem Delfinarium in Ulsan starb. Nach dem langen Transport von über 30 Stunden starb er an Stress!

Das „Sea World“ in Geoje, das einzige Delfinarium in Süd Korea, welches auch wildgefangene Belugas aus Russland in Gefangenschaft hält, wird unserer Meinung nach nur als Geldwaschanlage betrieben!

Im Delfinarium auf der Insel Jeju wurde vier Jahre lang ein Delfin namens „Sampal“ in Gefangenschaft gehalten, der angeblich vor der Küste Südkoreas „gerettet“ wurde.

Der oberste Gerichtshof entschied 2013, dass dieser Fang illegal war und „Sampal“ wieder ausgewildert werden musste, was nach insgesamt über 20 Jahren Gefangenschaft auch gelang!

Wenige Jahre später wurde „Sampal“, der markiert wurde, gar mit ihrem Nachwuchs vor der Küste Südkoreas gesichtet!   Zwischen 1990 und 2011 hat dieses Delfinarium illegal 26 Delfine vor der Küste Südkoreas gefangen.

Neben „Sampal“ mussten auch vier weitere illegal gefangene Delfine wieder ausgewildert werden. Die anderen illegal gefangenen Tiere waren bereits gestorben!

Von 1990 – 2017 wurden 98 Delfine nach Süd Korea importiert. 52 davon sind bereits gestorben! Ihr durchschnittliches Lebensalter betrug nur vier bis fünf Jahre!

Laut der National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, einer Behörde der US-Regierung, beträgt die durchschnittliche Lebenserwartung von Großen Tümmlern in freier Wildbahn 40 bis 50 Jahre.

Süd Korea ist durch seine Delfinkäufe in der Vergangenheit für die grausamen Delfin-Treibjagden in Taiji/Japan mitverantwortlich!  

Süd Korea benötigt durch viele verstorbene Delfine und das Fehlen einer nachhaltigen Zucht laufend weitere Delfine! Das muss ein Ende haben!

WALFLEISCH-VERKAUFSVERBOT

Wir waren auf der Suche nach Walfleisch in diesem Land, welches ja anscheinend seit dem Walfang-Moratorium von 1986 keinen kommerziellen Walfang mehr betreibt und wir fanden es!

Wir werfen Süd-Korea vor, den kommerziellen Walfang, der seit 1986 durch die Internationale Walfangkommission (IWC) verboten wurde, zu umgehen und bis heute fortzusetzen! Auch Süd Korea ist an dieses Moratorium gebunden und hat sich verpflichtet, keine Großwale mehr zu jagen und zu töten!

In einer ganzen Häuserreihe im Hafen von Ulsan befinden sich mehrere Restaurants, in denen Walfleisch in allen Variationen und einzelne Gerichte zum Preis von bis zu 114 € angeboten werden!

Woher das Walfleisch kommt, daraus macht die Regierung kein Geheimnis mehr! Die Wale seien zufällige Beifänge der Fischer und das Walfleisch darf dann auch verkauft werden, wenn die Tiere versehentlich in die Fischernetze geraten und ertrunken sind und diese Fälle auch der Regierung gemeldet wurden.

Mehr als auffällig ist jedoch, dass in Süd Korea einhundert mal mehr Delfine und Wale als sogenannter Beifang in die Netze gehen, als in jenen Ländern, die mit dem Walfleischhandel nichts zu tun haben!

In 2014 töteten diese die drei Walfangländer Island, Norwegen und Japan zusammen insgesamt 1.175 Großwale von zwei Arten!

Weitaus weniger, als 1.849 Wale von 13 verschiedenen Arten, die in Süd Korea angeblich aus Versehen als Beifang in die Netze der Fischer gingen! Diese hohe Anzahl beinhaltet auch nur die den Behörden gemeldeten Beifangfällen. Nicht alle Beifänge werden den Behörden gemeldet!

Der Schwarzmarkt für illegal gefangene Wale boomt, denn es sind große Profite zu erzielen! Es geht um einen Handel von Hunderten Millionen € jährlich!
　
Ein einziger Zwergwal kann in Süd Korea ein Profit von bis zu 75.000 € einbringen! Es ist daher nicht verwunderlich, dass der legale und auch illegale Handel mit Walfleisch in Süd Korea ein florierendes Geschäft ist. Viele Wale könnten gerettet werden, wenn es ein gesetzliches Verkaufsverbot von Walfleisch gibt!

HUNDEFLEISCH-VERKAUFSVERBOT

Millionen Hunde werden in Süd Korea jährlich auf Farmen gezüchtet und brutalst ermordet, bevor sie im Kochtopf landen und gegessen werden.

Hundefleisch gehört schon lange zur traditionellen Küche in Süd Korea. Das Essen von Hundefleisch ist nicht verboten, aber den Behörden ist der Handel des Fleisches nach vielen Skandalen und auch durch viele Proteste aus dem In- und Ausland ein Dorn im Auge.

In 2018 hatte ein Gericht das Töten von Hunden für Fleischgerichte als nicht berechtigten Grund angesehen und für nicht zulässig erklärt!

Das Leid für Millionen von Hunden würde durch ein gesetzliches Verkaufsverbot von Hundefleisch beendet sein!

Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren, 

hiermit möchte ich Sie darüber informieren, dass ich mich aus Tierschutzgründen dem weltweiten Tourismus- und Waren-Boykott-Aufruf gegenüber Ihrem Land anschließen werde. 

Zur Begründung:

Ich lehne jegliche Haltung von Delfinen in Gefangenschaft ab!

Betrieb von Delfinarien:

Von 1990 – 2017 wurden 98 Delfine nach Süd Korea importiert. 52 davon sind bereits gestorben! Ihr durchschnittliches Lebensalter betrug nur vier bis fünf Jahre!  

Laut der National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, einer Behörde der US-Regierung, beträgt die durchschnittliche Lebenserwartung von Großen Tümmlern in freier Wildbahn 40 bis 50 Jahre.

Laut Angaben der des japanischen Finanz-Ministeriums importierte Süd Korea in den Jahren 2010 – 2017 insgesamt 44 Delfine, die aus den grausamen Delfin-Treibjagden in Taiji aus Japan stammten. Von diesen Tieren sind heute nicht mehr viele am Leben.

Süd Korea ist durch seine Delfinkäufe in der Vergangenheit für die grausamen Delfin-Treibjagden in Taiji/Japan mitverantwortlich!  

Ich bin erschüttert darüber, in welch kleinen Becken die Delfine im Delfinarium auf der Insel Jeju und in Ulsan in Gefangenschaft gehalten werden! Es gibt wohl weltweit kein kleineres Delfin-Gefängnis, als das in dem Delfinarium in Ulsan!

Öffentlich wurde ein Fall, dass ein Delfin, der aus Japan importiert wurde, nur fünf Tage in dem Delfinarium in Ulsan starb. Nach dem langen Transport von über 30 Stunden starb er an Stress!

In dem Delfinarium in Geoje, welches auch wildgefangene Belugas aus Russland in Gefangenschaft hält und überhaupt keine Zuchterfolge zu verzeichnen hat, gibt es kaum Besucher und dennoch existiert es noch immer. Es ist sehr wahrscheinlich, dass diese Anlage nur deshalb betrieben wird, weil es als Waschanlage für Gelder aus dubioser Herkunft fungiert!

Auch in diesem Delfinarium starben bereits so viele Delfine. Der Betreiber kommt überhaupt nicht mehr hinterher, seine Informations-Prospekte aktuell zu halten. In seinem letzten Prospekt stand, dass es 16 Delfine in seiner Anlage gibt. Anfang 2018 waren es nur noch zehn Delfine, die dort waren!

Delfinarium „Pazifik Land“ auf der Insel Jeju  

In diesem Delfinarium wurde vier Jahre lang ein Delfin namens „Sampal“ in Gefangenschaft gehalten, der angeblich vor der Küste Südkoreas „gerettet“ wurde. Der oberste Gerichtshof entschied 2013, dass dieser Fang illegal war und „Sampal“ wieder ausgewildert werden musste, was nach insgesamt über 20 Jahren Gefangenschaft auch gelang! Wie Sie sicherlich wissen, hat ein Gericht in Ihrem Land entschieden, dass die beiden Delfine "Geumdeung" und "Daepo", die vor mehr als 20 Jahren vor Ihrer Küste gefangen und zuletzt im Delfinarium im Zoo in Seoul in Gefangenschaft gehalten wurden, in ihrem Stammgewässer wieder ausgewildert werden mussten. Dies geschah ja erfolgreich auf der Insel Jeju.

Das Sterben von so vielen Delfinen in ihren Delfinarien und das Fehlen einer nachhaltigen Zucht lässt den Schluss zu, dass Ihr Land schon bald weitere Delfine und Beluga-Wale benötigt und importiert! Gefragt sind Große Tümmler und diese Art kann man derzeit nur in Taiji kaufen, deren Import Sie ja angeblich letztes Jahr gesetzlich verboten haben. Woher würden solche Delfine kommen? Sicherlich aus dubiosen Quellen und kaum nachvollziehbarer Herkunft!

Ich fordere Sie auf, dass Sie ein Gesetz beschließen, welches den Import von weiteren Delfinen und Belugas in Ihr Land ausnahmslos verbietet! Andere Länder, wie beispielsweise die Schweiz haben solch ein Gesetz bereits beschlossen. Auch jeder Weg und jegliche Art von Fängen von Delfinen vor Ihren Küsten muss zukünftig verboten sein!

Verkaufsverbot für Walfleisch!

Zudem fordere ich Sie auf, dass Sie den Verkauf von Walfleisch in Ihrem Land nun endlich verbieten!

Ihr Land erlaubt es, dass das Fleisch der Wale verkauft werden darf, wenn diese als Beifang angeblich aus Versehen in den Netzen der Fischer gefangen und dieses dann auch den Behörden gemeldet wurde. Wie Sie sicherlich wissen, werden nicht alle Beifänge von Walen den Behörden gemeldet! Ihrem Land existiert ein von ihnen legalisierter Handel mit Walfleisch und ein völlig von ihnen unkontrollierbarer Markt für das Fleisch der Wale!

Sicher haben Sie Kenntnis darüber, dass schon in 2008 in Ulsan mehr als 50 Tonnen Zwergwalfleisch beschlagnahmt und dabei 70 Personen, darunter Fischer und Restaurantbetreiber, verhaftet wurden. In 2014 töteten die Walfangländer Island, Norwegen und Japan zusammen insgesamt 1.175 Großwale von zwei Arten!

Weitaus weniger, als 1.849 Wale von 13 verschiedenen Arten, die in Süd Korea angeblich rein aus Versehen in die Netze der Fischer gerieten!

In der Vergangenheit führte ein internationales Forscherteam der amerikanischen Oregon State Universität aus Newport Gentests an Fleischproben durch und stellte fest, dass zwischen 1999 und 2003 insgesamt 827 Zwergwale gestorben sein mussten. Der Regierung wurden von den Fischern jedoch nur 458 Zwergwale als Beifang gemeldet!
　
Wie hoch der Beifang in Wirklichkeit ist, bleibt deshalb auch Ihnen unbekannt. Es ist davon auszugehen, dass wenn schon etwa die Hälfte der Beifänge gar nicht gemeldet werden, in 2014 etwa über 3.500 Wale gefangen wurden!
　
Diese immens hohe Beifangzahlen gibt es sonst in keinem anderen Land und es ist ein klarer Beleg dafür, dass in Süd Korea vorsätzlich Wale gefangen werden und sich das Land über das Moratorium des kommerziellen Walfangverbotes von 1986 hinwegsetzt! Video:

Verkaufsverbot für Hundefleisch!

Verbieten Sie endlich den Verkauf von Hundefleisch in Ihrem Land! Abschließend fordere ich sie auch dazu auf, endlich den Verkauf von Hundefleisch in Ihrem Land zu verbieten!

Sicherlich haben Sie Kenntnisse darüber, dass es in Ihrem Land auch Schlachthäuser gibt, die schon seit Jahrzehnten ohne Genehmigung Hunde töten. Ein Gericht in Seoul hatte letztes Jahr verfügt, dass das Schlachthaus in Seongnam aus diesem Grund geschlossen und abgerissen werden musste! Es gibt ein Markt für Hundefleisch, der kaum von der Regierung kontrolliert werden kann!

Auch in 2018 hatte ein Gericht in Bucheo das Töten von Hunden für Fleischgerichte als nicht berechtigten Grund angesehen und für nicht zulässig erklärt! Nehmen Sie dieses Urteil als Vorlage und verhindern Sie endlich das Leid von Millionen von Hunden, indem sie den Verkauf von Hundefleisch gesetzlich verbieten!

I reject the keeping of dolphins in captivity!

Operation of dolphinariums:

98 dolphins were imported to South Korea from 1990 - 2017. 52 of those dolphins have already died! Their average age was only four to five years old!

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, a US government agency, the average life expectancy of bottlenose dolphins in the wild is 40 to 50 years.

According to data from the Japanese Ministry of Finance, from 2010 - 2017, South Korea has imported a total of 44 dolphins, all of which came from the cruel dolphin hunts in Taiji, Japan. Only a very small number of these animals remain alive today.

South Korea shares responsibility for the cruel dolphin hunts in Taiji, Japan due to having purchased dolphins in the past!

I am utterly shocked by the small pools in which the captive dolphins are kept at both the dolphinarium on Jeju Island and in Ulsan! Most likely there are no other dolphin prisons anywhere in the world as small as the one at the dolphinarium in Ulsan!

A case that came to the public eye was of a dolphin imported from Japan, that died after only five days in the Dolphinarium in Ulsan. After the long journey of over 30 hours, he died of stress!

At the dolphinarium in Geoje, which also keeps wild caught Belugas from Russia, there has been no success breeding dolphins at all plus there are hardly any visitors, yet it continues to exist. It is most likely that this facility is operated only as a money laundering business for washing funds from dubious origins!

Also at this dolphinarium many dolphins have died already. The operator seems incapable of keeping his information brochures up to date as fast as they need to be updated. His last brochure said that there were16 dolphins in his facility. In early 2018 there were just ten dolphins left!

In 2013 the Supreme Court ruled that this catch was illegal and that "Sampal" had to be released back into the wild, and so after a total of over 20 years in captivity, “Sampal” was free again!

A few years later, "Sampal", whom was tagged, was even spotted with its offspring off the coast of South Korea!

Between 1990 and 2011, this dolphinarium had illegally caught 26 dolphins off the coast of South Korea.

21 of those dolphins had already died before “Sampal” and four other surviving dolphins were ordered to be released back into the wild.

As you are most likely aware, your own court ruled that two dolphins, "Geumdeung" and "Daepo", who were being held in captivity at the Seoul Zoo’s dolphinarium, were ordered to be released back into the South Korean waters where they were captured more than 20 years earlier! This task was successfully achieved off the island of Jeju.

The death of so many dolphins in their dolphinaria and the lack of any sustainable breeding program suggests that your country will soon need to import more dolphins and beluga whales! Bottlenose dolphins are in high demand and this species can currently only be procured from Taiji, the importation of such that you allegedly forbade by law last year. Where then would these dolphins come from? Surely only from dubious sources with virtually untraceable origins!

I urge you to pass a law prohibiting the import of more dolphins and belugas into your country, without any exceptions! Other countries, such as Switzerland, have already passed such a law. Also all methods of catching dolphins off your shores must be prohibited in the future!

Ban on whale meat sales!

In addition, I urge you to finally ban the sale of whale meat in your country!

Your country allows whale meat to be sold if it was allegedly accidentally caught as by-catch in the nets of fishermen and then reported to the authorities. As you surely know, not all by-catches of whales are reported to the authorities! Your country is running a form of legalised trade in whale meat, a trade that you appear to have no control over!

Surely you are aware that more than 50 tonnes of minke whale meat was confiscated in Ulsan in 2008, and that 70 people, including fishermen and restaurant operators, were arrested.

In 2014, the whaling nations of Iceland, Norway and Japan combined, killed a total of 1,175 large whales of two species!

Far fewer than the 1,849 whales of 13 different species, that were allegedly accidentally caught in fishermen's nets in South Korea!

An international research team from Oregon State University based out of Newport, USA, conducted genetic testing on whale meat samples and found that 827 minke whales had died between 1999 and 2003. However, fisherman had only reported 458 minke whales as by-catch to the government!

Therefore it seems that you cannot possibly know the true size of the whale by-catch. Based on the Oregon State University’s research, It can be safely assumed that about half of the by-catches are not reported at all, hence more than 3,500 whales were caught in 2014!

These immense numbers of whale by-catch are not found in any other country and it is clear evidence that whales are being deliberately caught in South Korea and that the country is ignoring the moratorium of the 1986 commercial whaling ban!

Ban on the sale of dog meat!

Ultimately ban the sale of dog meat in your country!

Finally I urge you to ban the sale of dog meat in your country!

Millions of dogs are bred on farms in South Korea every year and are brutally murdered before they end up in cooking pots to be eaten.

Surely you know that there are slaughterhouses in your country that have been killing dogs for decades without any permission. Last year, a court in Seoul ordered that the slaughterhouse in Seongnam was to be closed and demolished for this very reason! There is a market for dog meat that can barely be controlled by the government!

Also in 2018, a court in Bucheo considered that the killing of dogs for consumption is unjustified and declared it unacceptable! Take this court judgment as a model of best practice and finally prevent the suffering of millions of dogs by legally prohibiting the sale of dog meat!

BAN ON THE SALE OF WHALE MEAT

We were looking for whale meat in this country, that had allegedly stopped commercial whaling back in 1986 with the introduction of the whaling moratorium. We found it!

We accuse South Korea of ​​evading the embargo on commercial whaling, that was instigated by the International Whaling Commission (IWC) in 1986 and continues in place to this day! Also South Korea is bound by this moratorium and is legally obligated not to hunt and kill large whales!

Along an entire street frontage in the harbor of Ulsan, there are several restaurants where whale meat is offered, in all variations and individual dishes for as much as € 114 per dish!

The government no longer makes a secret as to where the whale meat comes from! The whales are incidental by-catch from commercial fishing and whale meat may be sold if the animals have accidentally drowned after being caught in fishing nets and that those dead animals have been reported to the government.

More than conspicuous however, is that South Korea has one hundred times more dolphins and whales caught as by-catch in fishing nets than in those countries that have nothing to do with the whale meat trade!

In 2014, the three whaling nations of Iceland, Norway and Japan together have killed a total of 1,175 large whales of just two species!

Far less than the 1,849 whales of 13 different species that were supposedly accidentally caught by fishermen in South Korea! This high number includes only the by-catch cases reported to the authorities. Not all by-catches are reported to the authorities! The black market for illegally caught whales is booming because there are big profits to be made!

It is a trade worth hundreds of millions of Euros annually!

A single minke whale can earn a supplier upwards of € 75,000 Euros in South Korea! It is therefore not surprising that the legal and also illegal trade of whale meat in South Korea is a flourishing business.

A legal ban on selling whale meat could save the lives of many whales!

BAN ON THE SALE OF DOG MEAT

Millions of dogs are bred on farms in South Korea every year and are brutally murdered before they end up in the cooking pot to be eaten.

Dog meat has long been part of traditional cuisine in South Korea. The consumption of dog meat is not prohibited, but after many scandals and also protests at home & abroad, the dog meat trade is a thorn in the side of the authorities.

In 2018, a court has considered that the killing of dogs for consumption is unjustified and declared it unacceptable!

A ban on the sale of dog meat would end the suffering of millions of dogs!

Operation of dolphinariums:

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, a US government agency, the average life expectancy of bottlenose dolphins in the wild is 40 to 50 years.

According to data from the Japanese Ministry of Finance, from 2010 - 2017, South Korea has imported a total of 44 dolphins, all of which came from the cruel dolphin hunts in Taiji, Japan. Only a very small number of these animals remain alive today.

South Korea shares responsibility for the cruel dolphin hunts in Taiji, Japan due to having purchased dolphins in the past!

I am utterly shocked by the small pools in which the captive dolphins are kept at both the dolphinarium on Jeju Island and in Ulsan! Most likely there are no other dolphin prisons anywhere in the world as small as the one at the dolphinarium in Ulsan!

A case that came to the public eye was of a dolphin imported from Japan, that died after only five days in the Dolphinarium in Ulsan. After the long journey of over 30 hours, he died of stress!

At the dolphinarium in Geoje, which also keeps wild caught Belugas from Russia, there has been no success breeding dolphins at all plus there are hardly any visitors, yet it continues to exist. It is most likely that this facility is operated only as a money laundering business for washing funds from dubious origins!

Also at this dolphinarium many dolphins have died already. The operator seems incapable of keeping his information brochures up to date as fast as they need to be updated. His last brochure said that there were16 dolphins in his facility. In early 2018 there were just ten dolphins left!

Jeju "Pacific Land" - In this dolphinarium, a dolphin named "Sampal", allegedly "rescued" off the coast of South Korea, was held captive for four years.

In 2013 the Supreme Court ruled that this catch was illegal and that "Sampal" had to be released back into the wild, and so after a total of over 20 years in captivity, “Sampal” was free again!

A few years later, "Sampal", whom was tagged, was even spotted with its offspring off the coast of South Korea!

Between 1990 and 2011, this dolphinarium had illegally caught 26 dolphins off the coast of South Korea.

21 of those dolphins had already died before “Sampal” and four other surviving dolphins were ordered to be released back into the wild.

As you are most likely aware, your own court ruled that two dolphins, "Geumdeung" and "Daepo", who were being held in captivity at the Seoul Zoo’s dolphinarium, were ordered to be released back into the South Korean waters where they were captured more than 20 years earlier! This task was successfully achieved off the island of Jeju.

The death of so many dolphins in their dolphinaria and the lack of any sustainable breeding program suggests that your country will soon need to import more dolphins and beluga whales! Bottlenose dolphins are in high demand and this species can currently only be procured from Taiji, the importation of such that you allegedly forbade by law last year. Where then would these dolphins come from? Surely only from dubious sources with virtually untraceable origins!

I urge you to pass a law prohibiting the import of more dolphins and belugas into your country, without any exceptions! Other countries, such as Switzerland, have already passed such a law. Also all methods of catching dolphins off your shores must be prohibited in the future!

Ban on whale meat sales!

In addition, I urge you to finally ban the sale of whale meat in your country!

Your country allows whale meat to be sold if it was allegedly accidentally caught as by-catch in the nets of fishermen and then reported to the authorities. As you surely know, not all by-catches of whales are reported to the authorities! Your country is running a form of legalised trade in whale meat, a trade that you appear to have no control over!

Surely you are aware that more than 50 tonnes of minke whale meat was confiscated in Ulsan in 2008, and that 70 people, including fishermen and restaurant operators, were arrested.

In 2014, the whaling nations of Iceland, Norway and Japan combined, killed a total of 1,175 large whales of two species!

Far fewer than the 1,849 whales of 13 different species, that were allegedly accidentally caught in fishermen's nets in South Korea!

An international research team from Oregon State University based out of Newport, USA, conducted genetic testing on whale meat samples and found that 827 minke whales had died between 1999 and 2003. However, fisherman had only reported 458 minke whales as by-catch to the government!

Therefore it seems that you cannot possibly know the true size of the whale by-catch. Based on the Oregon State University’s research, It can be safely assumed that about half of the by-catches are not reported at all, hence more than 3,500 whales were caught in 2014!

These immense numbers of whale by-catch are not found in any other country and it is clear evidence that whales are being deliberately caught in South Korea and that the country is ignoring the moratorium of the 1986 commercial whaling ban!

Also in 2018, a court in Bucheo considered that the killing of dogs for consumption is unjustified and declared it unacceptable! Take this court judgment as a model of best practice and finally prevent the suffering of millions of dogs by legally prohibiting the sale of dog meat!
