Protest Faroe Islands

Protest gegen den Walfang auf den Färöer Inseln. Eine Protestnote und fast 60.000 Unterschriften wurden allen Verantwortlichen und relevanten Behörden, Parteien, Ministerien, dem Parlament und dem Premierminister übergeben.

Protesting against the whale hunt on the Faroe Islands. A letter of protest and almost 60.000 signatures were presented to all responsible individuals and authorities, parties, ministries, the parliament and the prime minister.

Um die Bevölkerung zu informieren, wurden auch die örtlichen Medien (Zeitungen, Radio und TV) informiert...

To spread the word to all the people, the local newspaper, radio and TV were also involved...

Protest in Kopenhagen, Denmark

Protest gegen den Walfang auf den Färöer Inseln im Mutterland Dänemark. Eine Protestnote und fast 60.000 Unterschriften wurden auch hier allen Verantwortlichen und relevanten Behörden, Parteien, Ministerien, dem Parlament und dem Premierminister übergeben. Auch statteten die Tierschützer Königin Margarete II auf Amalienburg einen Besuch ab.

Protest am Heiligtum der Dänen. Die Meerjungfrau war allerdings auf der Weltausstellung in China. Die dänische Regierung hat viel Geld bezahlt, um die Meerjungfrau dort ausstellen zu dürfen, weil sie sich erhoffen, ihr Image in der Welt nach dem Karrikaturenstreit in den letzten Jahre wieder aufzubessern. Das würde die dänische Regierung nur erreichen, wenn sie alles daran setzen würde, dass die Teilautonomie Färöer den Walfang einstellt.

Protest against the whale hunt on the Faroe Islands in the mother country Denmark. A letter of protest and almost 60.000 signatures were presented to the relevant and responsible authorities, parties, ministries, the parliament and the prime minister here too. The activists also paid a visit to queen Margarete II in Amalienburg.

Protest at the location of the most revered statue of the Danes. The little mermaid, though, was on loan to the world trade exhibition in China. The Danish government paid a good amount of money to be able to exhibit the little mermaid there, hoping that this will help to reestablish their world image after the caricature disaster during the last couple of years. This, however, is only going to happen if the Danish government will to do everything possible to force their partially autonomous daughter country - the Faroe Islands - to stop hunting whales.

Diese Kundgebung wurde von den Polizeibehörden nach langen Gesprächen genehmigt...

After long negotiations this protest was sanctioned by the Danish police ....

Zum Abschluss des Gespräches wünschte die Mitarbeiterin des Büros der Selbstverwaltung der Färöer Inseln in Kopenhagen den Tierschützern hoffentlich keinen Erfolg mit ihrer Kampagne, da sie selbst von der Inselgruppe stamme und gerne Walfleisch verzehre!

As a final note, the co-worker, in the office of the Faroe Islands’ self-administration in Kopenhagen, expressed her hope that the activists would not be successful in their campaign since she comes from these islands and loves to eat whale meat.

Stoppt den Mord an Walen und Delfinen auf den Färöer Inseln!

The message of ProWal and WDSF is clear:

Stop the slaughter of Whales and Dolphins on the Faroe Islands!
